LIPOSUCTION

Liposuction is one of the common cosmetic surgical procedure which is performed.
The removal of excess body fat is by suction, using power assisted liposuction machine and is done by a board certified plastic surgeon.
It helps to remove unwanted deposits of excess fat, to improve body appearance and to smooth irregular or distorted body shapes. The procedure is also called body contouring.
Liposuction may be useful for contouring under the chin, neck, upper arms, abdomen, buttocks, hips thighs and knees.
However, liposuction is a major surgical procedure and may involve a recovery period that is painful.

Methods / Techniques of Liposuction:

  • Tumescent liposuction (fluid injection) is the popular method of liposuction. In this procedure a large amount of tumescent solution is injected into the areas before the fat is removed. The fluid is mixture of local anesthetic, epinephrine  and Ringers Lactate solution. Epinephrine helps to reduce the blood loss and bruising.
  • The tumescent solution helps to achieve liposuction much easily.
  • Power- Assisted liposuction (PAL) utilizes ‘micro aire’ instrument which assists in the to and fro movement of the cannula and enables to break the fat for easy aspiration.
  • Liposuction is not a substitute for proper diet & excise and does not connect obesity.
  • The ideal patient must have good general adequate skin tone.
  • Liposuction is performed for contour conversation reduction of abnormal fat deposits.
  • Areas that are commonly done are the anterior abdomen, flanks, thighs, buttocks, arms and chin.
